Product design receives Red Dot distinction
Suresnes, France – It was announced on April 9 that the Philips GoPure 7101 is a recipient of this year’s Red Dot award. In 2018, designers and manufacturers from 59 countries submitted more than 6,300 objects to the competition. The panel of experts awards the internationally recognized seal of quality only to products that win them over with their high design quality.
About the Red Dot Design Award
The Red Dot Award: Product Design has roots dating back as far as 1955 and determines the best products created each year. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, a jury comprising roughly 40 members assessed the products individually based on the original. The strict judging criteria, which include level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and durability, provide a frame of reference which the jurors then complement with their own expertise.
The awards ceremony, during which the “Best of the Best” winners will receive their awards on stage in front of around 1,200 guests from all over the globe, will take place on Monday 9 July 2018 at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany. This day coincides with the publication of the Red Dot Design Yearbook 2018/2019, which showcases all of the year’s winning products. In addition, they can be found in the Online Exhibition, the Red Dot App and on Red Dot 21 from that date.
The Philips GoPure 7101 design
The Philips GoPure 7101 was placed in the product design discipline. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, described the winning products as having “outstanding functionality” which in turn, demonstrates that “the designers have understood their clients and their needs.”
“Behind every Philips-branded product are decades of leading product design expertise,” says Esther Hafenscher, Global Marcom and Brand Manager. “We are thrilled to be a recipient of this award as it confirms the numerous efforts we put in place to provide innovation through all of our product designs.”
About the GoPure 7101
Air pollution often goes unnoticed as most harmful fine particles and gases are invisible to the human eye. The resulting health effects, however, are as evident as ever. Lumileds developed the Philips GoPure 7101 car air purifier as a response to the rising pollution levels to ensure that all drivers can profit from clean, fresh air inside their vehicle. The powerful Philips SelectFilter Plus filtration technology inside the device removes harmful pollution particles as well as cigarette smoke and dust from the car. With a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 22.9 m3/hour for PM2.5 particles, the air in a standard sedan or SUV can be purified in just 8 minutes.
