Mark Adams

Chief Executive Officer

Before joining Lumileds as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Adams most recently served as President of Micron Technology, Inc. a Fortune 200 global manufacturer of advanced memory solutions, from 2012 to 2016.

Between 2008 and 2012, Mr. Adams held the position of Vice President, Worldwide Sales at Micron. He also served in executive roles at Lexar Media, Inc., Creative Labs, Inc. and NCR Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1987 from Boston College and his MBA in 1995 from Harvard University. Mr. Adams currently sits on the board of directors at Cadence Design Systems, Inc. and Seagate Technology plc.

Mircea Buzgar

Mircea Buzgar

SVP, GM Automotive BU

Mr. Buzgar brings more than 30 years of experience in the Automotive and Lighting industries.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Buzgar served as General Manager of Automotive Lamps within Philips Automotive Lighting—a business group of Royal Philips dedicated to providing best-in-class lighting solutions in the Automotive Aftermarket and Original Equipment Manufacturer and Supplier markets (OEM, OES).

Previously, Mr. Buzgar was the Head of Operations for HID, a global business unit of Philips Lighting. He was located in Shanghai, China. He joined Royal Philips in 1995.

In earlier roles, Mr. Buzgar served as General Manager of Philips Automotive Playback Modules Europe, a Philips company that designed and manufactured navigation systems for the car industry. He also held the position of General Manager Tubular Lighting, a Philips company that designs and manufactures fluorescent lighting solutions.

Throughout his career, Mr. Buzgar worked and lived in South Africa, Asia, Europe and the US. His professional career covered the areas of Product Development, Head of Large Global Operations and General Management.

A South African and Romanian citizen, Mr. Buzgar holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Timisoara Romania.

Ajay Marathe

Ajay Marathe

SVP, GM Specialty BU & LED Operations

Ajay Marathe is SVP, GM Specialty BU & LED Operations. Prior to his current position, Mr. Marathe served as Senior Vice-President of Operations at Philips Lumileds – a business group of Royal Philips he joined in October 2011. He brings extensive operations executive expertise encompassing both the semiconductor and solar industries of over 30 years.

Mr. Marathe started his career at AMD in Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations leadership positions, providing him with a strong foundation for his later roles including Corporate Vice-President of Operations for the Computation Products Group and President of AMD India. As President of AMD India, Mr. Marathe was responsible for growing AMD’s India business, expanding it from zero to 25% market share in two short years.

Mr. Marathe has also provided leadership to the Semiconductor Group of Reliance Industries as CEO. He also served as Senior Vice-President of Operations at Solaria, the solar module manufacturer. Mr. Marathe holds a MS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Texas Tech University where he was felicitated as one of their “Distinguished Engineers” in year 2006.

Steve Barlow

SVP, GM Illumination BU

Bringing more than 25 years of sales, marketing and business development experience in the semiconductor and LED lighting industry to his role, Mr. Barlow has demonstrated strong leadership, technology vision, business growth and customer relationship building skills.

Mr. Barlow rejoins Lumileds from Cree, Inc., where he served as SVP of global sales and business development, responsible for the lighting division products, channels and revenue growth. He first joined Lumileds in 2003, helping to build its LED automotive, camera flash, display and lighting businesses as head of sales and marketing. He then served as the Chief Commercial Officer at Intematix Corporation, where he was responsible for all of the LED phosphor material and lighting component company’s commercial functions including global sales, marketing, application engineering, customer service, business development and distribution.

Mr. Barlow holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University.

Jy Bhardwaj

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Jy Bhardwaj is Chief Technology Officer of Lumileds. Dr. Bhardwaj joined Lumileds in May 2010. Prior to joining, he served 7 years at JDSU, where he held a number of senior management positions, including CTO of Optical Communications. After over 6 years of business unit leadership, including Vice-President and General Manager of Agile Optical Networks (which includes JDSU's market-leading optical transport product lines), Dr. Bhardwaj joined JDSU through an acquisition of Scion Photonics; a Silicon Valley-based optical chip start up, where he served as the CEO.

Prior to Scion, Dr. Bhardwaj served as CTO at STS, a Sumitomo Precision Products company, developing and manufacturing semiconductor capital equipment. During his tenure, STS saw over 5 years of strong growth culminating in an IPO on the AIM in London at the end of 2000.

Dr. Bhardwaj holds Ph.D and B.Eng degrees from Liverpool University.

Ilan Daskal

Chief Financial Officer

With over 25 years of experience in numerous senior executive roles, Mr. Daskal brings a breadth of expertise in operations, M&A, capital markets and information systems to Lumileds.

Previously, Mr. Daskal’s positions included VP of Finance at Infineon Technologies NA and Chief Financial Officer at International Rectifier Corporation.

Mr. Daskal holds an M.S. in Finance from City University of New York and a B.B. in Accounting from Tel-Aviv College of Business, Israel.

Cheree McAlpine

Cheree McAlpine

SVP, General Counsel

A Silicon Valley veteran who has structured and negotiated strategic relationships with industry leaders in technology, Ms. McAlpine joined Lumileds as Senior VP and General Counsel. Earlier she served as Vice President and General Counsel at Avnet Inc., the global leader of electronic components and services.

Prior to joining Avnet, Ms. McAlpine was VP and General Counsel at cloud leader Wyse Technology Inc. and managed the sale of Wyse to Dell Inc. in May 2012. She has held previous roles at Sun Microsystems, Graham and James, and McCutchen Doyle Brown and Enersen focusing on strategic and corporate governance matters, M&A activities and intellectual property transactions.

Ms. McAlpine is a published author who writes and speaks on industry issues nationally. She has been named one of the Most Influential Woman in Business by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and was awarded the YWCA Technology Women in Industry Award. Ms. McApline serves on the advisory board for the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, AZ. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Alabama and a Juris doctor degree from Suffolk University Law in Boston.
