Even when we can’t accurately describe quality of light, we know it when we see it. The longstanding challenge for the lighting industry is to replicate the experience of natural illumination with artificial light. Today, LED innovators and scientists are not only capable of reproducing natural light as we see it throughout the course of a day, they are engineering light to provide healthful, manageable, full-spectrum illumination.
Infrared (IR) emitters enable unique capabilities including night vision, depth sensing and 3D imaging. Utilizing radiation that is beyond the visible red part of the spectrum, IR emitters bring expanded functions to everything from surveillance cameras to facial recognition. Here are five interesting things to know about infrared emitters and how they use invisible light.
Learn how LUXEON Fusion takes a novel approach to tuning, combining the best LEDs with our proprietary phosphors to produce high quality, dynamically tunable white light.
Human Centric Lighting Smooths Out the Rough Edges of Daylight Saving Time
This white paper focuses on Infrared (IR) illumination for TOF systems using Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting LASERs (VCSELs) and Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and shows that LEDs are a feasible and affordable option as IR illuminators.
While many landmarks are best visited during the day, there are some destinations that truly transform at night due to the power of LED lighting. We have compiled a list of places to visit at night that you should add to your summer bucket list.
On Earth Day the focus is on environmental awareness and standing up for the environment. In 2018 this commitment is even more relevant for companies as the role of business is recognized as critical to achieving lasting environmental benefits.
Daylight Saving Time has been shown to have a detrimental effect on Americans across the country due to the disruption to one’s circadian clock. In fact, a 2016 study reported that “the overall rate for stroke was 8% higher in the two days after daylight savings time”, while the likelihood of stroke jumps to 20% during that time for people older than 65 (American Academy of Neurology).
